The Disana natural nappy system uses only organic untreated cotton, and ethical pure new merino wool. The world famous nappy system fits from newborn to toileting independently, is budget friendly and simple to use. The simplicity of these nappies is what sets them apart and has made them a staple for new parents since 1982. They may appear confusing to start with but once you have them in your hands it all makes sense, instructions and follow up service is also provided.
Disana Nappies Trial Pack includes one of each:
- Organic cotton knitted tie nappy
- Organic cotton muslin nappy
- Brushed cotton liner
- Organic wool cover (optional)
This will allow you to try the core products which make up the Disana nappy system, to make sure you like them before stashing up (15% discount code on follow up order is offered with this pack). Cotton knitted tie nappies and cotton muslin nappies can each be used separately with the brushed cotton liner inside for absorbent boosting.
All three pieces may be used together for night time, but if you have a heavy wetter overnight it is recommended to add a RAWr hemp or bamboo prefold. This is because many more layers of cotton are required to achieve the same absorbency as one prefold.
We recommend 20-25 tie on nappies to use cloth full time. 4-6 covers are also needed to keep clothes and bedding dry.
Nappies and liner: Warm-hot machine wash. Hang to dry or can be dried in electric dryer on cool setting. No bleaching, fabric softener or soaking required. Natural fabrics shrink during their first few washes by 10-15%, if washed or rinsed in water above 60°C (not recommended or covered under warranty) this shrinkage could increase to up to 30%. Full RAWr Nappies care instructions are included with purchase and can also be found here with a list of preferred detergents readily available in Australia.
Woollen covers: Handwash only (in wool wash) and should be lanolised with each wash, then dried flat in the shade. Disana soakers contain a small amount of natural lanolin in the wool. For heavy night time wetting they may need to be lanolised before first wear (this is easily done using a pea-sized drop of ‘Lansinoh’ pure lanolin dissolved in water or our favourite: Sheepish Grins Lanolin).
